Well, it’s Independence Day again! and everyone Loves Fireworks! The sound, the smell, the anticipation! Holding onto your sweetie with your face turned up to the dark night sky waiting in anticipation! Fireworks are MAGIC! These retro fireworks finds sure did bring a smile to my face! I just had to share!
There are many Fourth of July activities in Charlotte! Here are just a few options for you, so get out, have fun and watch some fireworks!
Enjoy BBQ, beer, fireworks, classic cars, and hot rods at the Gordon Street Block Party. Performances by Belmont Playboys, Temperance League, Sea of Cortez, Aqualads, and Modern Primitives. Lawnchairs and blankets welcome!
WHEN: 4, 6 and 8 p.m. Saturday, July 2 to Monday, July 4, 2011
WHERE: 5000 Whitewater Center Parkway, Charlotte, NC 28214
WHAT: A three-day music festival to celebrate the fourth. Admission is free, but there is a standard $5 parking fee. If you haven’t checked out the Whitewater Center, it’s an excellent venue for a concert or just to relax by the waterside.
WHEN: Monday, July 4 and Tuesday, July 5. Gates open at 5 p.m. with opening ceremonies for feature races at 7 p.m. each night. The fireworks will take place at the conclusion of feature racing.
WHERE: 5555 Concord Parkway South, Concord, NC 28027.
WHAT: Fans can come out and enjoy a full slate of Legend Car and Bandolero racing before watching the fireworks explode above the 1.5-mile superspeedway. Tickets are just $7 for adults and $3 for kids 6 to 12. Children 5 and under get in free.

WHAT: Head down to Memorial Stadium on July 4th for Red, White & Boom! There will be plenty of family-friendly activities for all to enjoy including watermelon eating contests, sack races, tug of war and more! There’s also live music and plenty to do for adults Activities start at 4 p.m. and last until 9 p.m., when the real attraction takes over. At 9:30 p.m., one of the area’s biggest and longest fireworks displays begins.

OK, you can’t celebrate The Fourth without some awesome sweet desserts. Here are a couple of ideas that are not only color coordinated, but FUN and DELICIOUS too!
4th of July Creme Filled Strawberries! You can swap out the blueberry for a raspberry and flavor the whipped cream with maple syrup.
How about this amazing Fruit Tart Flag? I have attached the recipe for you below.
Fill premade miniature tart shells or phyllo cups with sweet mascarpone cream (recipe below), then arrange on a tray and top with blueberries and halved strawberry slices to create stars and stripes.
Beat an 8-ounce container of mascarpone cheese and 3 tablespoons confectioners’ sugar with a mixer until smooth. Gently fold in 1/2 cup freshly whipped cream.
